As the sun will set,
And stars will shine,
We’ll embrace a new year,
Year 2009.
Anticipations and expectations,
Are build in every mind,
For we look out for new,
And not 2008 rewind.
Olympics and IPL happen or not,
We’ll not wait for reasons,
To prove the world,
We’re winners of every sport.
Economic crisis and recession,
Be words of past,
The economies of world grow,
We wish very fast.
We hope, we’ll overcome somber,
And witness new sun shine,
With joy on every face
Blessed with a radiant smile.
May this year bring the time,
When words of Nehru, we justify,
“When the world sleeps, India awakes”
Awakes for its glory, apprised and
With heads held high.

This poem is about “HOPE” (mankind’s most cherished possession). I could read between the lines, how things aren't always what they seem and that there’ll be always a “New Day”
